Book your own "DAY OF DISCOVERY" with your own personal guide....

At both Wilderness Lodges you can book in advance for a special day of nature discovery with your own nature guide.

The programme caters to your special interests and fitness levels with breaks for lunch, refreshments and relaxation during the day.

It particularly suits those who want to pack every experience into their Wilderness Lodge visit, who are older and want a more gentle programme and conversely those who are younger/honeymooners who want a very active and exciting programme.

The total charge for exclusive nature guiding for 1 or 2 persons at either Wilderness Lodge is NZ$ 595 per day.

This charge covers your personal guide, refreshments, picnic lunches and all equipment (canoes etc).

 

All you need to do when you make your booking is request “We would like 1 day's exclusive nature guiding at Wilderness Lodge ______ on _____ (date) and then you will enjoy a day to remember forever.
 

 

NIGHT BEFORE - Clients meet their nature guide and talk about their interests and fitness.

GUIDING DAY


(This is a sample exclusive guiding programmes based out of Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki. This can be easily altered for different weather and varying fitness levels and interests.)

8am 

 Breakfast
9am
  • Depart Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki
  • Travel South to lovely Cole Creek beach
  • Walk the wild Tasman seacoast past dunes, waterfalls, rocky islands and caves
  • View the world's smallest dolphin, Hector's Dolphin and NZ fur seals
  • Morning tea at a coastal waterfall cave
11.30 am
  • Canoe the Mataketake dune lakes to look for black swan, fernbird and cormorants in an amazing "floating forest"
12.30 pm
  • Lunch in the Ship Creek ancient rainforest. Canoe back to our vehicle
1.30 pm
  • Return towards Wilderness Lodge and
  • Either: Explore the lovely fern forest of the historic goldminers' trail
    or: Explore through the rainforest to a remote beach, home to Fiordland Crested Penguin (in season) with an afternoon picnic on the beach
4.30 pm
  • Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki. Our final trip is a gentle walk through rainforest to discover and feed the giant eels of the Moeraki Valley
  • Relaxation at the Lodge
